8/19/2023 0 Comments Reddit diy racing sim cockpit![]() ![]() So what Alzaraz recommends with cockpit -> brakes -> wheel is 100% correct. What load Cell brake gives you, ist he ability to use muscle memory - you will push the pedal in using your thigh muscle as opposed to use the ankle angle that you are using with potentiomenter - what this helps at, is to release a bit of brain power that you can use elsewhere, while your muscle takes care of braking, not your brain. To be able to have a good load cell pedals, you will need a proper seating position - preferably 80/20 rig, that is strong enough to not flex under the pedals. Load Cell brake pedal is however proven to help aiding with faster lap times and more consistent racing. But i cant do shit with a 1200 usd Simucube Pro paired with 1200 usd GSI rim that attached on a table without a loadcell pedal.Īny wheel with FFB will be good enough to get you round the track fast and communicate whats happening at the wheels.īuying better, stronger steering wheel will add the immersion, and in some instances might allow you to be more consistent and safer on track, but rarely makes you actually faster. ![]() I can make very good laptimes with an entry level wheel and a proper rig+loadcell pedal. So, you want to join racing series, leagues and competitive stuff then a cockpit is essential because your brake pedals will have the biggest impact on your laptime. If you don't care about your laptimes and racing stuff it's waste of money. Nobody need a DD wheel for a truck simulator or just cruising or such. Anyway the purpose of having a DD wheel is all about the serious sim racing. Anyone in here will say the same thing as long as they have over 1000 hrs of sim racing experience. But if you're up to buy a DD and serious stuff, you have to have a proper rig. If you buy a G29 or something and just connect on the table to have some fun yes buy it and wroom just for casual fun and you gonna be tired of it soon or later. So I figured I’d ask you all what your thoughts on it are? For additional reference, the cockpit I was thinking of getting would be the F-GT LITE cockpit from Next Level Racing.Įdit: my budget is somewhere around $500 dollars (USD), I’d like to spend no more than $650. A new cockpit would also mean I have to get a new monitor, and most likely move a lot of my setup around. ![]() Considering my wheel hasn’t died yet, wouldn’t it make more sense to buy a cockpit first? My immediate thinking is no, because a new wheel would help improve my racing more than a cockpit would, but I’m not entirely sure. I was planning on buying the Moza R5 (not the bundle, just the base, wheel, and table clamp) but my dad bought up and interesting point. After the pedals died, I replaced them with the fanatec CSL pedals, which so far have been great! However, the wheel itself is getting old, and I think it deserves retirement. For the past year, I’ve raced with a thrustmaster TMX force feedback, which (aside from the pedals breaking after a month of heavy use) has worked fine for the most part. I’ve been sim racing for 2 years this may, and I want to take the next step. ![]()
